Features and Applications

S-5131 is a multifunctional silicone surface additive engineered to optimize overall coating performance by significantly reducing surface tension. This formulation delivers superior substrate wettability and effectively prevents the formation of Bénard cells (vortices), ensuring a uniform and consistent coating surface from start to finish.

As a high-performance flow and leveling aid, it dramatically enhances Distinctness of Image (DOI) and surface gloss, with zero risk of haze, blue tint, or reduced light transmittance. Beyond aesthetic improvements, it forms a durable protective surface layer that boosts surface slipperiness, scratch resistance, and anti-blocking properties for long-lasting coating durability.

Featuring excellent system compatibility, this additive does not migrate or float, making it a reliable haze-free solution for both transparent and pigmented coating systems. It is fully compatible with solvent-based, solvent-free, and waterborne coatings, and its specialized design ensures multiple recoatings retain perfect clarity and strong inter-coat adhesion without any turbidity issues.

Application and Addition Amount

Applications:

• Vacuum plating paint – varnish
• Coatings: Automotive, wood, furniture, plastic, industrial, and decorative coatings
• Digital Media: High-performance inkjet inks (UV, solvent, and water-based)

Usage & Dosage:

• Recommended Dosage: Standard: 0.05% – 0.3% of the total formula; UV & Water-based: 0.3% – 1.0% of the total formula
• Incorporation: Add during the paint mixing stage to ensure uniform and optimal distribution
